British Marine has partnered with Informa Exhibitions to deliver the London On-Water Boat Show

British Marine is to partner with Informa Exhibitions to deliver the London On-Water Boat Show.

The show takes place at St. Katharine Docks, London, each May.

The alliance is designed to develop and enhance the event for exhibitors, sponsors and visitors following in the wake of the demise of the London Boat Show.

“We are delighted to confirm our partnership with London On-Water Boat Show and are very excited to be working with them to deliver a world class luxury event in this historic location at the heart of the capital,” said BM CEO, Lesley Robinson.

And she said the signing of the London On-Water Boat Show deal demonstrates BM’s continued commitment to showcasing the industry through live events.

Following the cancellation of LBS, a working group headed up by Ian Cooke, BM president elect, was set up with representation from across the industry.

The group is tasked with exploring further opportunities to represent other aspects of the sector including regional shows.

Informa PLC also runs Monaco Yacht Show and Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

London On-Water Boat Show 2019 will run from May 9 – 12.

Bavaria Yachts will once again build its boats 100% in Germany and plans for them to bear the company’s seal of quality ‘Made in Giebelstadt’.

Both sailing and motor yachts will be manufactured and handed over to customers in Franconia. The R55 motor yacht, previously produced in Croatia, will for the first time be hand-built at the company’s headquarters in the first half of 2019. The moulds and tools are currently being transported from Croatia to Germany and installed in Bavaria Yachts’ Giebelstadt production facility.

“We want our outstandingly well trained and committed employees to develop and build all our yachts primarily under own management,” explained MD Erik Appel, who has also been COO of the company since December 2017.

Narrower focus

The current portfolio includes 26 models – within the next three years it is to be focused on 10 to 12 models which are efficient and popular in the market, said Erik.

C65, presented in 2018 but not successful, will no longer be built; the E-Line (electric propulsion and hybrid yachts) has been discontinued, stated Bavaria Yachts.

The C50 sailing yacht has been removed from series production and technically reworked as a prototype. It is expected to return to series production from November 2018.

The findings from this process will now be transferred to the flagship C57 and its little sister C45. The C57 is currently on the production line and at the same time the findings from the C50 are being made use of in the ongoing production of the C57.

Moderate new developments are planned from 2019, added the company, which was last year brought by a private equity fund advised by German investment company CMP Capital Management-Partners.

Simon Russell will lead the manufacture and distribution of the SB20

Simon Russell has joined Sportsboat World as director to lead the manufacturer and worldwide distribution of the SB20.

Simon, aka ‘Fumesy’ has more than 25 years’ experience in the marine business including 11 years as corporate sales manager at Musto, where he focused on growing the team sales business. He also spent ten years at Jack Holt as a technical sales manager in the dinghy and keelboat hardware division.

“The knowledge, expertise and experience that Simon brings to our company will further strengthen the position of the SB20 as the leading strict one-design 6m racing keelboat,” said CEO Tony Castro.

“He is fully committed to working with our international network of stakeholders: the SB20 class, the world council, owners and fans, to get the SB20 to the next stage while preserving the ethos of this unique class.”

Dek-King Distribution UK has signed a partnership with Moody Decking

Dek-King Distribution UK (DKDUK) has signed a partnership with teak deck manufacturer, Moody Decking & Services.

Through the agreement, Moody Decking, that designs, builds and fits natural teak yacht decking, will now offer Dek-King 2G premium synthetic teak decking for the first time.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Moody Decking that has a wealth of experience working with traditional teak,” said James Gant, DKDUK MD.

“This partnership continues our expansion in the South of England by combining the ultimate alternative to teak with the highest levels of service.”

Supply partner

The new partnership comes nine months after Wilks, the global manufacturer of Dek-King 2G synthetic teak, announced DKDUK as its chosen partner to supply the UK for the Dek-King range.

Chris Berry, Wilks joint MD, added: “The new partnership showcases not only the growing popularity of synthetic teak but also the strength of the Dek-King product. Last chance for boats at no reserve auction

Dozens of project boats at Maylandsea’s Blackwater Marina will be given a last chance at a no reserve auction.

The auction will take place on Sunday October 7 with three months free storage included with every boat sold.

“We have at least 20 boats that have become our property in lieu of debt,” said marina manager Beccs Polden. “At least another five, some afloat and others ashore, are being sold by owners who are no longer using them.”

Historic

“It’s sad, but we want to do our very best to find homes for them all and give them a chance to be enjoyed.”

Boats to be sold will range from small sailing cruisers to an historic tug with 6% of all proceeds going to three charities, the RNLI, Maldon Sea Cadets and GAIN that funds research into the rare viral condition Guilain-Barré Syndrome. The day will also include a boat jumble and on-water events.
