DAVEY & CO LONDON LTD
Heritage boat-fittings manufacturer Davey & Company London, has been acquired by John Buckley, owner of Harbour Marine Services.
The acquisition seals a long-standing connection between the two companies – Harbour Marine specialises in classic boat restoration including several Little Dunkirk Ships on which Davey’s traditionally-manufactured bronze fittings have been used.
“I have great respect for Davey & Co’s British made ethos and high-quality product,” says John. “My intention is to protect that and create many more opportunities for Davey to be known as the ‘must-have’ quality fitting for traditional boat owners internationally.”
Davey and Co, established in 1885, is a leading British manufacturer of traditional boat fittings to boat-owners worldwide and still uses many of the patterns and designs that were used in Victorian times.
Traditional style
This results in authentic, high quality and covetable fittings that are perfect for classic boats and also bring a traditional style to more modern vessels.
Davey’s MD of 25 years, Peter Tracey, will be stepping down in the early autumn with Jeff Webber taking over the role. The business will continue to operate from its Colchester base whilst continuing to employ all existing staff.
Jeff has more than 20 years’ experience of the marine industry and has been brought in to deliver John’s vision for the business.
“This is a great opportunity and I look forward to taking up the reins from where Peter left off. Both John and I agree that British made philosophy of Davey & Co and quality products must be preserved.”
